What’s New
Today, I just paid for 11 Hounds Design drop spindles and they should be arriving in the next week!

We have fianlly assembled a fairly good reference library of Handwoven (1980's- present), Spin-Off (1980's- present), Weavers Journal and Vogue Knitting (1960's-2009). If you are interested in reading any of them we have them stored downstairs. I have been reading some of the the 80's Spin-Off magazines and have been inspired and I have learned so much in the past couple of weeks; from choosing a good fleece to spinning cotton. As a result, I am now spinning cotton on my drop spindle and we are actively seeking a direct source for cotton from South America.
Last newsletter, we wrote about Ryan's (over) enthusiatic wool dyeing activities. His hand dyed roving was well received at the Spin-In! Thanks to everyone who attended and a big thanks to Wendy and the entire Victoria Handweavers Spinners Guild for such a wonderful event. I highy encourage people who are mildly curious about spinning to visit next years' Spin-in. Don't worry I will remind you :)
60 people spinning in one room is quite a sight!
Last but not least, we particiapted in the Women in Business Gala Event. KBN hosted an interactive fashion show featuring local women designers, for more information and behind the scene pictures check out my blog.
Did
You Know…
" Mahatma Ghandi on spinning: 'For me, nothing in the political world is
more important than the spinning wheel.' He would spin half an hour each day,
and called spinning a sacrement which helped to turn the spinner's mind 'God-ward.'
