What's New!
It is hard to believe it has been one year since we quietly opened our doors to the world, wondering what the response would be like, wondering a lot of things, the yarns we ordered, equipment…. Will people come!?
This year has been really amazing and we have so many people to thank (you know who you are!) who have helped shape Knotty By Nature. There is such an amazing community out there, so many talented artists and amazing new friends.

of you may have heard that Stephanie will be going back to her government job!
The rumour is true, she is returning early as the lady who was filling in her
space is having a baby and going on maternity leave in January. While Stephanie
won’t be at the store as much as she is now, you will still find her there
as much as possible! The store will be managed on a daily basis by her husband
Ryan, who is knowledgeable in so many of the areas of fibre arts. We will also
be looking for people who have a broad range of knowledge in the fibre arts
to help on a casual basis in the New Year to give him a hand.
Ryan has been doing some really beautiful dyeing of roving in a variety of fibres from corriedale, mohair, merino, blue faced leicester and more. They have been a pleasure to spin!
Did You Know…
"Dipping in clear water with a dash of lemon juice or white vinegar improves the lustre and imparts a clean feel to handspun yarns of animal fibres (except silk). Vinegar and lemon juice contain a mild acid , about five percent. Since much of the vegetable debris and dust which clings to animal fibres is cellulose, the solution helps to loosen and wash it away. It also helps rinse away the alkaline residue from the soap. Do not, however, use this treatment on vegetable fibres because they have a cellulose base and could be damaged by acid." From Spin Span Spun; B. Hochberg, pg 42.
